A miniature model of English village of Bourton-on-the-Water
Bourton-on-the-Water is a village in the United Kingdom, in England, in Gloucestershire, on the Cotswolds hills. The Windrush River runs through the center of the village, crossed by many bridges, so Bourton-on-the-Water is called "Venice of the Cotswolds". The village has about 3,200 inhabitants, but in the tourist season there are more tourists than locals.
Cabo Polonio, a tourist village without electricity and water
Cabo Polonio is a tiny tourist village at the end of the land above the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of Uruguay in the Rocha department. In the outermost place, there's a large lighthouse with a view on two rocky islands with a big colony of sea lions. The lighthouse is the only building in the village connected to the power line. None of the hundreds of houses have electricity or running water, there's no sewage as well. There's only a couple of companies and houses with generators or solar panels or they use wind energy to light their places, but most people live with that quite well. Fresh water is obtained from a well or by collecting rainwater.
